Ambulances and other emergency medical transport (EMT) services are dispatched after a 911 call and intended to transport passengers/patients as quickly as possible during an emergency. NEMT services are not meant for emergencies, as implied by the name.

As a general rule, NEMT is booked and reserved prior to the date a person is picked up.
